Speech

My daughter is 18 months old and I don't think that she is as far on as others speech wise but I don't have many friends with children so I don't actually know.

She definitely understands everything that is going on and understands things like ' take the book to daddy for a story' and she will.

She knows loads of animal noises, can say ball, baby, again, hi, bye, uh oh, daisy for Upset Daisy on in the night garden, and tries to say makka pakka!!

She isn't putting more than one word together though, and surprisingly isn't saying 'no' but she does shake her head instead.

Does this sound normal?

Completely normal for 18 months.

My little boy is 2 1/2 and up until a month or so ago was hardly saying anything, preferring to use gestures over speech. Then it was like someone had flicked a switch, and now I would say he's on parr with his peers.

Your daughter sounds absolutely fine Smile
