Prams with Raincovers

I'm due DC2 next month; need to organise a few last bits and I've been thinking about the pram...

We have bought a travel system but it didn't include a rain cover. This didn't particularly bother me when we bought it at the beginning of the year, but now I'm wondering if I want one.

I never used one with DC1 as I didn't like the idea of baby being in a big plastic bag. But now with the concerns about Coronavirus and increased awareness of keeping away other people's germs, I'm wondering if a rain cover would be a good barrier to keep baby safe.

Any thoughts? Do you use a rain cover on your pram?

If you do recommend using one; any recommendations for a cover that will fit a Cosatto Wow?

I use one. DS doesnt seem to mind it either, or he's very used to it since we live in Scotland and he was born in the winter! I tend to keep it on if I have to take him to a supermarket (I try to avoid that) in the hope it will help. Im sure the maker will have a cover designed for the travel system, my vennici one did.

We do a lot of walking so have used a rain cover with all three of mine when it’s raining... better than them getting soaked. Not sure how id have managed the twice daily school run with DC3 without a rain cover, it seems to rain at 8.30am and 3pm every day!

I'd say it was essential! While I'm not a huge fan of walking in the rain it's some times unavoidable - get caught in a shower or you've got an appointment and it's easier to take the buggy rather than drive. DS hasn't been to a shop since lock down started but if I needed to take him he'd be under the rain cover.

Definitely an essential in my book. This year has been super wet! I've used mine a lot. I suppose it depends on lifestyle. If you drive everywhere, maybe not so much of an essential? Regarding coronavirus, I can't see myself in the height of summer putting a plastic raincover on a pram (imagine the heat) to protect baby from germs...and when it's raining, no one stops to have a chat and look at baby.

Thanks all. I'll see if I can get one. I'm hoping the DD will be back in school in September and have been looking forward to walking her there and back with the baby in the pram (walking to school is usually a rare novelty due to the rush to get to work). I'm guessing by September there's a good chance of regular rain.

I think I'd be nervous about cooking the poor baby under a rain cover in the middle of summer, so I'll have to rely on my grumpy "don't poke my baby" face when the local old ladies get too close.
