Co sleeping advice please

Firstly I adore co sleeping... I co slept with my first child up until my second baby was born, he was 3 when this happened, he moved into his own room pretty well but still needs one of us to lie with him to get him to sleep, we are more then happy with this, he occasionally wakes in the night and comes to fetch one of us... since baby was born it's become easier for my husband to get into with our 3 year old when he wakes as I co sleep with our 10month old baby, have done since he was born, although lately, I believe it may be his teething but he has become very very clingy and only wasn't to sleep in my arms or lying on me, although I love co sleeping I don't want this to become a habit with him only wanting to sleep on me, as I'm getting little sleep as I suffer with my back, but equally I'm on of those mommies that as long as baby's happy I'm happy, eventually would like to get him into his cot which will be in our room as I won't be ready to put him in his own room for a long while, I also can't leave him to cry, any tips... thanks

Can you put your mattress on the floor and put the baby down on the mattress when s/he is asleep? This is my plan.
