Quantity of food when weaning

Hiya, super quick one, my 7 month old has been weaning for 5 weeks and we're moving from baby porridge to normal oats with fruit in the morning. Any idea on how much oats he should have? The adult portion is 40g. I've been giving him 10g with 1/4 cube of pureed fruit mixed in to sweeten it but can't find anything on quantities of food. He is 99th centil as he's not on the move yet and has always been a good eater, so I don't want to over feed him!

you dont have to puree all food mines been eating chopped up food since 6 months .By lumping it in front of her she chooses how much she likes thus taking away the fear of over feeding look up baby led weaning. So much easier than puree feeding my first baby,my second is now 10 months and eats a wide variety of food .For breakfast i usually chop up two kinds of fruit and serve with toast fingers or dry cereal or soreen toast or even chopped pancakes .Thats also a picture of her lunch i just place a few bits at a time in font her to play with or eat.

and here is the plate i use

here she is earlier in weaning having a blast

Hiya, ah how sweet. Yes, I'm doing a mix of BLW and spoon feeding. He does love his food. I just wondered how much porridge to use when making it up for him? I tend to give one small cube by spoon sometimes then do a few finger foods afterwards to let him have a play. Or alternate depending on what we're eating X

I used the baby porridge for the first couple of months and did 2 tablespoons for ds. But since working from home DH has been sharing his porridge with DS, he makes it with water Envy and just giving DS spoonfuls from his bowl, he usually has about 15-20 teaspoonfuls and half a banana for breakfast. Sorry that's not particularly precise with weight/measurements but it might help?

Ok great thank you. Yes we've just graduated from baby porridge too. He loves the oats just as much though. I did figure of an adult should have 40g then 10g is enough for him with s little fruit but I wanted to see what others gave! I was over eager making fruit and veg purees but now we're doing finger foods I'm using the puree with his porridge or for dips with breadsticks and soft veg sticks. X

I don't know if there are set portions for babies as their appetite can fluctuate so much. I follow SR Nutrition on Instagram, she's a Kent based dietician and specialises in weaning and child nutrition - she works a lot with Joe Wickes. Anyway, long story short, she has kids of great info about weaning and her tips gave me lots of confidence when weaning my son.
