Party bags for 2 year olds

2yr olds don't need party bags. You will be doing them(if you so choose) for the rest of your life, no need to start now.

I agree. Maybe buy them just one little thing each to take home but not bags, not at that age.

Hi Millie. Its quite difficult for 2 year olds because of the "not suitable for under 3 year olds" issues. How many little ones are you expecting? Maybe do something a little different and instead of doing traditional party bag, give each child a little bottle of fun shaped/coloured bubble bath and animal shaped sponge or something along those lines. Think you could get something like that fairly cheap in supermarket or Woolworths. If you have lots of children coming then probably not such a good idea.

Use your common sense when it comes to the 3+ issue - on a lot of toys it seems to be there to cover the manufacturer rather than because the toys present a real risk!

Things my 2 year old had enjoyed in party bags include stickers, small plastic animals (think Early Learning do reasonably priced tubs of these), something to eat (he's as happy with a box of raisins and some organix crisps as chocolate or sweets!), and a balloon. Also things like plastic/wooden bracelets or watches always a hit. And windmills. Sure there are lot s of other things you could do, will let you know if I have other ideas.

And enjoy! I know you will spend the rest of your life making party bags, but if you are going to have any more kids, this might be the first and last time you have time to enjoy doing it!

I booked a party for DD's 2nd, they did the party bags. I asked them not to put jelly sweets in and I think they took fright and put 3 boxes of raisins in each one

They put a board book in, and a slab of cake, handed out balloons as they were leaving.

At other parties we had crayons, bubbles, bath toys. The bags get more rubbish as they get older, but the DCs seem not to mind!

don't do it. send them home with a ballon and a bit of cake. you could put the cake in a bag if you reallllly want to.
DS is only 18 m/o buthas beeing given party bags from 2 1st b/ds , 1 was a bit of cake and a ballon, he played with for days. the other was plastic tat he wasn't interested in ( execpt the magnetic letter E).

I did them for my two year old - tried to avoid the really cheap plastic tat specifically for party bags and had balloon, ELC bubbles, white chocolate buttons and little soft toys or vehicles from Asda - both £1. To be fair though DD much prefered the plastic tat she got from other parties. That was also the reason for chocolate rather than raisins - realised I would be doing it to impress other parents rather than the children.

We gave helium balloons to everyone. Wasn't cheap but the party was shared so costs split.
