Advice needed on movicol and lactulose for 3 year old.

My daughter was on lactulose for a time as she went days without pooing and was in a lot of pain when going. It helped by making her go within three days but still difficult for her. She then started on movicol, one sachet a day. This turned her poo to a sticky paste and she goes about 6 times a day?
Is this a sign she’s still not going significantly enough and one time? Does she need a higher dose? Or lower as its too effective?
I’m confused as to what each medicine does for her system? Any experience? We can’t potty train her as she has so much trouble in this area. Thank you!

I'm in a very similar position. So.no advice but hopeful someone else will be able to for both of us.

DS is 4. He had been on it on and off for months. He also goes about 6 times a day and it's solid but very soft solid. Often stuck to him.

Like you I have no idea if it means not enough medicine so he isn't clearing out properly or too much so he can't form it properly. We're doing one sachet every 2 days at the moment

I think you need to discuss this with your GP, especially as it's a young child.

Yes I keep going back and forth, at least up until lockdown, but they just say keep playing around with the dosage.

Yep, I've had that too! When I asked if the reaction he was having was to b expected I was told nothing is unexpected. So that's helpful!
