Reflux

Hi all,

Does anyone have any tips for reflux? My DD seems to be struggling with it but more so at night when she's lying that in her back. GP has prescribed gaviscon but I can't tell if it's working yet as it's only been a few days and I'm also not giving it to her during every feed as I've heard it can make babies constipated.

TIA x

Hi, my DS has silent reflux. He used to cry from literally 3pm to 10/11, we had gaviscon but it made him really constipated (and we didn’t give it all the time) I was mix feeding as he was so hungry so we put him on the reflux milk- which definitely helped!
We also propped him up at night - put a pillow under his mattress.
We also gave him a dummy as the constant sucking/ swallowing helped calm him and keep the acid down (he hasn’t took up the dummy consistently- tbh he doesn’t like it anymore now the reflux is on the way out I reckon)
If I’m really honest we just had to ride it out, it was hard especially with a toddler needing attention as well but we have been lucky, he seems to be over it quickly - he’s 5 months now!
Hope some of my waffle helps!
I feel for you going through this in isolation (my mum used to come round just to hold him and stop the constant crying)!
Let me know how you go x
