When do you start your baby on 3 meals?

So my ds is 7 months (and a half) and started on dinner the day he turned 6 months, was a slow start but he is now a really good eater on 2 meals a day and just eats what we eat. I've started him on 3 meals this weekend but was wondering if its too much? He only eats a little bit of lunch before he's had enough.
He has also had less breast milk this weekend and I'm not sure if that's because he is full of food, teething or we may have created association of feeding to sleep only as he's not wanted feeding unless he is sleepy?

3 meals a day is fine at 7.5 months, just keep portions small and offer milk first/leave time between food and milk if he isn't drinking enough.

We did 1 week of 1 meal, 1 week of 2 meals and then 3 meals. So your fine now

Thanks for the reassurance! Ah I'm not offering milk before as wanted him to be hungry for food so he ate it but will offer milk first now Blush

It's a bit of a balance with the food/milk. Some children don't take well to weaning so the advice would be don't offer milk first, make sure they're hungry. Other children LOVE food and want to stop their milk so the opposite for those ones!

At that age I would usually offer milk first at breakfast time, then food first at lunch, then a mid-afternoon milk, then dinner at 5pm and then milk at 7pm before bed.

There's no right or wrong though it's just getting the balance so they eat and drink enough, but milk should be more the priority until he's one or thereabouts.

DS is 8 months and he has been having 3 meals since 3 weeks now.. we started with one meal in the afternoon, then gradually replaced his morning and evening milk feed with solid, one each week. Now he has 3 milk feeds, one at around 4 pm, 11 pm and around 4-5 am. I did increase the quantity of milk (formula) coz at first, it seemed as tho he was straining a bit more to poo but he has eased into it..
