Sibling age gaps

Just wondering what, in your opinion, is the perfect age gap for siblings? DH and I have 1 child at the moment, he is only 4 months so I'm not ready yet, but we have been discussing what age would be the best time for DS? I know it's personal opinion but just curious.

18 months between my two.
I personally found by it extremely difficult and my mental health really suffered.

3.5 years between DS's. Youngest DS adores his big brother but older DS struggled with the adjustment, particularly as he wasn't just an only child but an only grandchild on both sides and now has to share everybody.

Ds2 is 6 months old and has a special grin he reserves just for his big brother. DS1 is very tender and loving but can also be quite rough and over enthusiastic so I'm on constant supervision. But I like that DS1 is a little more independent, can take himself to the toilet, grab snacks and play happily on his own.

If I was to have another I'd probably have a smaller gap though. Life was just beginning to get back to normal, we could leave the house with just shoes, not weighed down like packhorses and DS1 is a fantastic sleeper. Going back to newborn phase was a big shock to my system.
