One year vaccinations, how were your babies?

Hi all. DD has her one year vaccinations tomorrow and I’m absolutely dreading them! She was fine after her other jabs, a little bit grumpy for maybe a day but nothing terrible and no fever.

But I’ve heard these are the worst when it comes to side effects ect. How were your babies after theirs?

Thanks Smile

DS was the same as your little one, little if any reaction to the others. The MMR, however, was the worst for us - but it still wasn't all that bad!

He got the mini measles after it, but he didn't have a fever. He was grumpy for a few days, but nothing that drove me over the edge Smile He was also teething at the same time (unknownst to me until the day after the shots) so that probably didn't help his mood.

I would say have the calpol at the ready once he gets the shots and keep giving it every 4-6 hours (this is what the nurse told me to do) and you'll both be just fine. Good luck!

My DS has just got over these, he found them really tricky. He was fine afterwards but then a week later he was unwell for about 4 days, fever and terrible runny nappies and extremely grumpy and clingy but then it past and he is fine again.

So our experience of them was quite tough but every child is different.

She had a fever that night and needed a lot of cuddles but fine the next day and beyond

DS struggled quite a bit with the earlier ones, but no reaction whatsoever to these, not even a fever. Hope yours is okay OP; if they react a bit it's very rare for it to be anything serious so try not to worry anyway

Fine. Can't even remember it really, so definitely no problems.

DS had his 12 month vaccinations 2 days ago. He always has a fever with vaccinations and did this time. He didn’t sleep great that night and woke every hour from 1am but again this is typical of how he usually reacts.

SuddenArborealStop · 19/04/2020 21:11

No issues , mine don't get on with the rota virus one but all others go unnoticed.

DappledThings · 19/04/2020 22:47

Totally fine. Not a single reaction from either of them except for a few tears at the time.

My dd slept a lot for a couple of days after each set of jabs.

She was most upset when she was old enough to jabber away with the nurse like a friendly conversation before the nurse did the jabs - dd looked so betrayed!

CobaltRose96 · 21/04/2020 08:35

Thanks all, DD had them yesterday afternoon. She was a bit grouchy when she first woke up this morning, but after a nap and some Calpol she’s perked right up. No fever yet but her legs seem quite sore.

Both my DS and DD were fine after they had the one year old vaccines neither had any reactions or side affects

Abouttimemum · 21/04/2020 20:01

DS had them a week ago and had sore legs for a day but otherwise fine. He had to go back in for his MenB again today and has been tetchy this afternoon about his leg again and had a bit of a temp (maybe unconnected) but he went to bed fine. He’s teething as well though which doesn’t help. Fingers crossed.

Mine slept solid for two days after and it was great 😂. He had a slight fever too and just wanted to nap or cuddle .

But in all honesty the injections themselves were hard to watch and broke my heart 😢

rebeccaelle · 27/04/2020 14:28

They were definitely the worst ones! My little boy was ok for a few days and then was really not himself for about a week! The nurse did warn us that the worst kicks in after around 10 days. He had sore lumpy legs for a while too.
It's still not too bad though in comparison with the viral infections that sweep round over winter! Calpol and cuddles and they will honestly be fine! I also took some chocolate buttons for after the injections and was immediately forgiven 😆

My son was fine after all injections, no temperature, he slept fine, no problems at all

Iliketreenames · 27/11/2020 16:03

My son had his yesterday, at 18 months due to a backlog of appointments. He is so tetchy and emotional today, it's been unite hard work ! He had a temperature in the night but came down with Calpol straight away.om hoping he cheers up soon :-)
