What are your babies wearing to bed?

So I'm aware it's not summer yet and the nights are still chilly, but I'm wondering when you sort of change the sleepwear. My nearly 8 month old is in a vest, sleepsuit and 2.5 tog sleep bag at the moment. As the weather (hopefully) improves in the next couple of months, do I get a 1 tog sleep bag or do I change to shorts and t shirt pj's? First time mum experiencing summer for the time since I had her so a bit unsure. Xx

It depends on the temperature of the bedroom, at 20c baby should wear a long sleeve vest with 2.5 tog bag, at 18c add a pyjama top. At 22c a long sleeve vest and a 1 tog bag.

The Grobag website has a "baby sleepwear guide" which tells you which bag and with which outfit for which room temperature.

I follow the sleep wear link they Fairylillie posted and I’ve never had problems with my little one waking up hot or cold . He is 14 months now and I’ve been following that advice since he was a newborn .

I use the chart above but find my baby does need a little more that what it says at least in winter. All winter her room has been 20-21, and she’s in a 2.5 tog with a sleep suit, rather than just a vest as advised. She was waking up, we assumed cold, when we did that. In summer though, we went with what the chart said - definitely a low top sleeping bag, with only a vest underneath (sleeve length dependent on temperature).

I put my baby in a long sleeved vest as a base and then...

16-18c - cosy grosnug with pj bottoms
18-20c - Cosy grosnug (I think is 2.5 tog?)
20-22c - light grosnug (1 tog)

I find this way easiest as I can change him with ease! Last night I just unzipped the bag and wriggled some pj bottoms on him when the temp dropped and he didn’t even wake :)

Changing bags is a bit more tricky but we tend to swap at nappy change or feed if he is happy enough!
