6 week old head control?

I’ve freaked myself out as Dr Google tells me my 6 week old should be able to lift his head during tummy time and look ahead - he can’t do this! We have slacked with tummy time as he hates it. Other than that, his head control is great and he can hold it up / turn from side to side for a bit when sitting and being held.

Anybody else in the same boat?

It’s fine. Try at get him a Lamaze tummy time spinner. We were tummy time slackers too but I genuinely think my little one is ahead of her peers in neck control and wanting to crawl now.

Don't worry too much! At six weeks my baby girl could just about turn her head from side to side on her tummy, but would mostly face plant the floor. She didn't hold her head up for a long time after (mybe eight weeks?). If she was laying on my chest it was a bit easier for her to hold her head up.

My 6 week old can't do this. I don't think I've ever done tummy time with him. Didn't do it with my other two children either as they didn't like it. They are 8 and 6 now and turned out fine so I really wouldn't worry.

Have you tried something like this? My six week old much prefers it to tummy time flat on the floor and we also use it to practice reaching etc www.smythstoys.com/uk/en-gb/baby/baby-toys/tummy-time/baby-einstein-rhythm-of-the-reef-prop-pillow-assortment/p/136653

I think all babies hate tummy time! Some things that helped us -

Lying on the floor with them, patting their back and talking

A tummy time 'log' as linked above, or a rolled up towel or breastfeeding pillow

Putting them on your chest instead of the floor or holding them up with their head by your shoulder, like when winding. This is now my babies favourite place to be, he really holds his head up and moves it to look around!
