Baby sleeping problem

Hi
My baby girl is almost 5 weeks old. From past few days, I have noticed a irritable change in her sleeping pattern. She is not taking a single nap in a day and sleep at night but with 3 to 4 hours napping time.
Today she woke up around 5:30am and it’s 10pm now but she is not sleeping at all.
Should I consult a doctor or is this normal in babies?

For a 5 week old to not have a nap in all this time, is unusual

Is baby well? Feeding? Opening bowels? Weeing as normal?

Selfsettling3 · 14/04/2020 02:41

What are you doing to try and get the baby to sleep?

How is the baby fed? How often is she feeding?

My DD now 6 weeks went though this exact same phase last week! She wa refusing to sleep during the day and hardly slept at night either! Someone recommended the wonder weeks app and it show when your baby is going through a mental leap and for me all the signs she was showing was matching the signs for the leap!! Also they say a baby goes through a growth spurt between 4-6 weeks so that could contribute!

I saw a dr becuase I was worried and they said it was nothing to worry about and it would past! My DD is now 6 weeks today and out of nowhere has started sleeping in 5 hours blocks during the night!

So hopefully it will just pass like mine did!! I know how hard it is but your doing an amazing job and it will pass xxx

Yes, if you could tell us what you've tried so far, we might be able to suggest some tweaks Smile

Both of mine have been through this phase, it's infuriating!

You need to try and encourage her to nap or she will get very overtired which won't be fun for her or you! Does she fall asleep in the sling or pram?

Thanks everyone
Yes she is taking mother feed as well as bottle feed. Her bowels and wee are completely fine.
During growth spurts days, she wants milk after every hour or 2 otherwise she is fine in rest of days.
She sleeps at night and took quite long naps like 6 to 7 hours or sometimes 9 hours.
She usually sleeps in my lap but we put her on cot or bed.

@babygirlmama1
I think you are absolutely right....I have read the signs and most of them are matching her current state.
She is drinking milk a lot.
