Accidents will happen?

OK, so there I was this morning making the bed with my 8 month old playing on the floor at the end of the bed (or so I thought). I shook the duvet and heard thump then scream - she had pulled herself up on the duvet and so then fell, biting her tongue with new razor-sharp front teeth, ouch . I have been feeling so guilty all day. Please tell me I'm not the only one to have inadvertently caused an accident with their DC? Go on, 'fess up and help relieve my guilt?

Hi fellow bean. You are not alone! Ds fell off a chair that he should have been more secure in and his tooth went into his lip and drew blood. Cue massive guilt trip on my part!

No bs - you are not alone. My DS fell off my bed at least three times during his first year. Plus he rolled off the sofa at 11 weeks.

Even worse I was working as a HV at the time . My colleagues used to wag their fingers at me everytime I took DS to clinic.

You are so not alone!
The first time my DD bled it was because I cut her finger while cutting her nails. She was 2 weeks old
I also was walking across the room the other day and didn't realise she was right behind me (she is now 19 months) I turned round to pick something up, knocked her over and stood on her foot.

DS has fallen off my bed several times as a baby and survived.

I was carring all the bedding downstirs once to be washed, I passed dt1 on the way (halfway down) a sheet was hanging loose from my arms, wrapped behind her head as i passed and pulled her swiftly down the stairs.

Oh thank you thank you all for sharing the guilt!
And it can even happen to a HV, Theclosetpagan, that makes me feel so much better
Chirpygirl - I have to confess I make my DP cut DD's nails as I am totally squeamish about that one!!

when dd1 had just started to sit up i sat her on the floor then went to move the coffee table out her way. of course as soon as i let her go she toppled over and cracked her head on it leaving a perfect line imprinted right across the front of her forehead

why could i not have put her on her back for a extra 5 seconds untill the table was out the way

Joining the 'I cut my 2 week old baby's finger along with their fingernail' club

Chirpygirl · 13/09/2007 20:21

Oh, I chickened out for months after that and made DH do it, and then one day he said 'don't be so silly, it's easy' and I promptly cut her again!
I have a friend who cut her DS's as well and she was distraught until I told her most mums I know have managed to cut their kids fingers as well!
