How long after teeth erupt do they cause pain ?

Hi there so my 4.5 month old baby has just gotten his second tooth. It erupted around 4 days ago. The first tooth came in about a week before that and we had 2 bad nights where he was waking every hour but this stopped until the second tooth appeared. For the last 2 nights he has been waking every hour or even less again. I normally feed him once a night, he is formula fed and the rest of the times he just can't seem to settle himself to sleep so I either have to try settle him in his cot with a dummy or pick him up and rock him which is more often than not the only way to settle him back to sleep. Sometimes he wakes half an hour after going back to sleep and it's exhausting I have barely slept the last 2 nights

So my question is for anyone who has experience of teething how long does the disrupted sleep last a do teeth still cause pain after coming through the gum ?

No idea on the teeth, my DD was unbothered by all of hers, but just a thought that it could be a sleep regression which is fairly common at around 4 months.

Whatever it is, I hope it doesn’t last long for you!
