Does anybody have any advice for the best bottles to use for a newborn baby?

I'm shopping around for bottles for when my baby arrives but there are so many options! Does anybody have any favourites or any advice on which are the best? Thank you

Hey. Congratulations on your pending arrival. When are you due? I used Philip's avent anti colic ones but just moved on to dr browns. This was purely because the Philip's only go up to 4oz and baby sometimes takes 5oz and he has colic and was told dr browns are great. My 1 but of advise and my 1 regret is to not get newborn starter kits because as explained they only got up to 4oz so 6 weeks in they are now unused. I think tommee tippee goes up to 5oz for newborn. Dr brown is 9oz so will last right up until he stops using them. Hope that helps a bit xx

As above, we used Avent (starter kit from mothercare closing down). Didn’t come with enough of the 4oz or 9oz so we bought extra of both as we thought we needed both sizes. The bottles are nice to hold and easy to clean and I like them. We needed to move to 5oz before he was 3 weeks old! 🤦‍♀️ So the newborn bottles were barely used.

Unfortunately 4 weeks in and DS has colic and the bottles no longer agreed with him, so we’ve bought mam bottles which were recommended by lots of mums (and cheaper than Dr Browns as we needed size 2 teats which don’t come as standard). We’ve only been using them 2 days and I like them so far, but whether they work or whether we end up forking out for Dr Browns 🤷‍♀️ remains to be seen!

We use Mam. You can steralise them in microwave which makes them nifty. We stayed with the 5oz bottles. I think there are smaller ones but don't see the point as would only have lasted a few weeks.

Baby doesn't suffer from collic, never had, not sure if that's aided by virtue or just easy baby.

First we used tommee tippee and boots but didn't get on great with them. Everyone at baby group recommended mam and so we tried them and we haven't looked back.

The philips avent as mentioned above 'natural'anti colic with size 1 teets

They do hold 5oz tho say 4oz on! Use them with the perfect prep machine for 5oz absolutely fine.

They also do the exact same bottles in a larger ?260ml bottle which we will move on to.

We also have a tomee tipee one that came with the perfect prep and this actually has been good to use too.

Definitely use newborn/slow flow teets to start with x

Absolutely go with the Phillips Avent, if the teats aren’t working for baby (mine struggled with them) you can replace them with MAM teats - I found these worked the best for my twins as they’re a flatter shape so fit in their mouths more comfortably 😊

We used the MAM ones and would buy them again. Was handy being able to sterilise them in the microwave.

We used tommee tippee then dr browns anti colic and wouldnt go back. But in all honesty some babies get on better with some than others

I used MAM bottles for dd. Never had a problem with them.

I used Phillips avent bottles, tried Tommy tippee but DS didn't seem to drink as well from them as he did with the Phillips ones.

The only reason I tried both brands was because I'd bought TT ones prior to giving birth, when I left work to go on mat leave they gave me a care package which included Phillips bottles!

We've always used tommy tippee and they’ve been fine. Maybe by a couple of different brands and see what your baby likes?

My baby would only accept Mam bottles. They are really good

I used MAM for both my children, with no problems, and it's really handy being able to sterilise them in the microwave without a separate steriliser, especially if we were staying with my parents for a couple of days, it was one less thing to have to take with us.

We use Philips Avent, we’ve just bought the different size teats as he’s got older.
