Nappy rash cream and poo

Hi All,

First time parent here with a very odd question, please don't judge.

For some reason I think that our baby seems to have quite a poo after being changed and when we apply nappy rash cream (Bepanthen) on his bottom (on the cheeks, not directly on anal region). I am talking korma everywhere.

Any thoughts or similar experience?

This is normal, the korma bit brought back memories Grin the moving around or rubbing cream on probably helps relax and move things around. Nothing to worry about xx

I swear my eldest used to wait for a clean nappy to have a poo! In reality the movement of changing her is probably what causes it.

Or the car seat... you could guarantee she'd poo if you went on a bit of a car journey.

Yes it seems to stimulate poo production 😂 I found Sudocream better because it doesn't seem to be so oily but that's just personal preference

Yeah, it's like a clean nappy is an invitation to have another poo.

I was more interested in finding out whether anyone else experienced that a nappy rash cream expedited things.

My DD still does massive poos after applying sudocrem or metainium! When she was tiny I do remember the dr saying any movement round that area would encourage bowel movements and loosen things up!

At the moment because she has a sore red bum I think it must hurt less to poo so she goes for it. TMI

Mine used to love a clean nappy or better still, he'd wait till the nappy was undone and then properly let rip.

No idea about the nappy cream as we've been lucky to barely have any rashes.
