I'm struggling today

Title really. Feeling it today.

Four weeks at home now. Dd was unwell last weekend which was tough.

She's eighteen months and such hard work. Miserable all the time. Moaning, screaming, no attention span, won't watch tv at all.

She spends all day clawing at me and objecting to everything. She is teething badly.

I just feel so low. Live on family farm, haven't seen an adult for days, dh so busy lambing. We go out to yard but she's at a terrible age for it. Dangerous really.

No answer I suppose. She hit me in the face with a book and split my lip. I have just cried for an hour.

I'm sorry you're having such a tough day.19 months is a touch age regardless, never mind when you're in lockdown and can't go for a drive or to the park. Do you have any outdoor toys like a swing or trampoline? I'm very grateful for ours right now.

Will she watch anything like little baby bum on YouTube?

Patterjack · 09/04/2020 09:32

Sounds tough. Does she usually go to nursery?

moobar · 09/04/2020 09:37

Thanks.

She goes two mornings and I go into office to do admin. I had to give up partnership as they wouldn't let me go part time or reduce from 14 hour days.

We don't do a huge amount normally, swimming one morning and a toddler group.

It's maybe her teeth, she just seems so difficult. Everything is an argument, even a nappy change. Everything is no.

My anxiety has not been great since she was unwell and this morning she's just been so so difficult.

Telly wise she just won't watch it. Stands and screams a sort of moaning cry. Like not distress just moaning.

Will go in swing or on trampoline for about a minute. Then wants off. Same with anything really.

Likes books but after reading all day every day I'm just needing a minute or two where I'm not doing that.

Sounds incredibly hard. Are you giving calpol/ baby paracetamol for teething pain? My Dd is a different child when calpoled she's teething.

moobar · 09/04/2020 09:49

Yes so I'm being unfair on her I know.

We got antibiotics at the weekend via phone as symptoms were like tonsillitis which she has had before. So she's on that and calpol. The antibiotics probably are causing the not eating behaviour.

Teeth wise she had three bottom. All top have come this week plus back bottom.

I just feel so useless and low today.

Thanks for listening

OP so sorry Flowers it is tough isnt it?
When dc1 was getting his molars we gave baby ibuprofen and paracetamol alternating when it was at its worst. Also all the usual stuff of teething gel, cold teethers, cold face cloth to chew on and yoghurt frozen tubes etc

I have a 3 year old and 4 month old and working full time dh so feel your pain!

Yesterdayforgotten · 09/04/2020 10:05

Remember this is temporary but I know when you're in it it feels like ages but things will get better. I bet with the teething it may be affected her sleep as well which may be making her grumpy too.

Also dont know if you've tried frozen banana for teething. You cut a banana in half then in half again length ways, wrap in foil and freeze.

moobar · 09/04/2020 10:12

Thank you, I hadn't heard of face cloth or banana. Will try that. Thanks

Yes just run face cloth under cold tap then put in zip lock sandwich bag in fridge for a abit and when nice and cold they love to chew on it. Bananas are a godsend tomo good luck op CakeBrew
