I gave my 1 year old 5ml of milk of magnesia. She has been crying in pain all evening. I was advised by her doc I could give her that much when she was extremely constipated. Now I don't know what to do? Has anyone given their baby any? And is this how they behave or should I go to emergency

Try not to worry if the dr told you that much was ok, probably a bit of tummy pain it will pass.

How is she now @Missnana?

She cried for a bit. Had to rock her to sleep but she is fine now. I gave her Tylenol which is also a pain killer. Thank you ladies. I almost went crazy last night

Is she still constipated? Just wondering if the Dr has suggested anything else to help this?

A day of high water foods might help so things like soup, melon, broccoli, cauliflower, Jelly (Jell-O) should all help. Dried figs also make a nice, if rather sticky, snack and have the added benefit of being high in calcium.

Is she a big milk drinker too? If she's on follow-on or toddler formula then the added iron can sometimes make them constipated.
