Any ideas why a baby would sleep like a log from 7pm to 1am then be unsettled from then on?

Do they get fed when they wake at 1am? How much do they sleep during the day? What age?

More information needed such as age, other routine etc

All people sleep more deeply the first part of the night compared to the second. Is the baby unsettled in general?

I think this is pretty normally for most young babies. How old is the baby?

Selfsettling3 · 09/04/2020 00:34

Because they are a baby.

This was my experience of baby and childhood sleep until about age 5. K could rely on them going to sleep fairly quickly at bedtime at 7ish, but all bets were off after midnight. Until the twins were about 3 they would wake to be fed at 12.30ish, 2.30ish and 5ish and then get up for the day at 6am. Totally exhausting for me.

I chose to go to bed pretty much when they did, knowing that good sleep for me was unlikely after midnight. This brought its own cost to my mental health, my diet (because I rarely ate proper dinners) and to my marriage (because we fell out of the habit of communicating and it's a struggle to regain it). I survived though, and those costs I paid came back in time.

Mine was like that until I night weaned then stopped going to him overnight. He will still wake at the slightest sound though, last night DH went downstairs at 3am to blow his noise. But DS sleeps through now, it's very exciting.

9mth old twin boys here. Easy to put to bed at 7 will usually sleep to around 11 or 12 then all goes pete tong. Im up every hr to see to one or the other. Usually for a feed. Not always a full feed either, sometimes just an oz or so. Fml. Basically im awake more than sleeping between 12 and 4-5ish. My first 2 never did that. Once they were sleeping through that was it. These 2 did start sleeping through 7-7 but then all went to shit when they were poorly at start of year. I keep telling myself it will pass but its fking soul destroying getting up after just settling down again. You have my sympathy.
