Family size

Hello, everyone....
Just wondering how much larger families were in the 1970s/1980s in comparison to nowadays. Just to get a perspective on how families have evolved since then?

My mum and dad were born in 1969 both one of two
Dh was late 1980s and was one of 3
I was born in the early 1990’s and one of three.

We would like 3 children
BIL has 2 children.

I would say in our family they’re larger now.
