Best hand blender for weening

Rockinghorse2019 · 03/04/2020 09:39

I have started weening but can’t seem to get the veggies puree enough there is always lumps. I think maybe it’s because my hand blender is about 15 years old or that I am making too small batches - 1 carrot.
Any recommendations for a new hand blender?

I got the cheapest one Argos do and found that to be fine in all honesty; I didn’t really end up using it that much as they progress to mashed up food so quickly.

I got the Argos cheapy, about £6? Still works great and DS is 2

He is 7 months next week should I not bother?

You honestly don't need a blender. Add a little milk and use a fork to mash. Seriously.

At 7 months I wouldn't bother. Lumps will be fine. Just mash with a fork or even give it as finger food (not every baby like this approach - DD preferred being spoon fed)

Cut it into strips and do BLW.
Couldn’t be doing with all that faff.

You definitely don't need a blender. At 4 months (if people choose to wean early), then puree needs to be smooth because it's easy to choke on. But at 7 months, you should be moving to lumpy, mashed foods anyway. If you want some that is pureed, buy the pouches from the shop. Otherwise, I'd just offer normal food like you eat and let him get on with it.

Your baby can eat whatever you are. There is no need to blend. Just make sure to cut foods that pose a choking risk. Like grapes.
