Anyone else's baby scream the house down when they've finished food?

My 9 month old cries (it's full blown screaming - awful) at the end of each meal. I'm sure she isn't still hungry, it seems more like she's sad the food has come to an end! She usually stops after a few mins, it's just very annoying and I don't know how to stop it/ help her not get so upset! Anyone else had this? Does it mean I need to be concerned about her relationship with food at all?

Oh, I don't think you need to be worried about her relationship with food. She's just discovered how to let her feelings known. Food isn't just fuel, at this age, its fun, sensory and a new activity.

I'd do it with her! See what she makes of you copying her. It'll probably stop her in her tracks and the two of you can have a good giggle about it.

Does she have water with her food? I realised my DD was often asking for her cup of water that was on the table but she couldn't reach.

My daughter is 16 months and she still does this! 😫 in our case it's just her letting us know she's done and wants to get down. She's very active and hates having to be sat somewhere even a second after she's done.

@waspfig yeah I give her water in a sippy cup, she gets upset if I even dare to interrupt her meal with it!
@dw23 I'll try getting her straight from the highchair and onto her playmat with toys and see if the immediate distraction helps. I usually just hold her until the crying stops.
