2 week old inconsolable when awake?!

My DD2 is two weeks old & is literally inconsolable when awake. She screams & screams until she sounds hoarse. Nothing stops it. Laying down, cuddles, sling, dummy (hates it), every hold position under the sun, pram .. not tried the car as we aren’t allowed out for a drive 😩 she just keeps on screaming. When she finally conks out (usually in an evening) she sleeps for 3 hour blocks. Feeding OK, is formula fed, 2/3oz every 2/3 hours.

My first DD wasn’t an easy baby so I’m well versed in newborns being tricky. I was prepared for it coming. But DD1 was never this bad. Something would settle her eventually, often the pram. But I can’t find anything to settle DD2..!

We’ve used colief for 5 days to no obvious effect and now trying infacol as well but I’m not convinced wind is the issue. She burps & farts like a trooper! It doesn’t seem trapped in any way.. Confused

She does seem a bit refluxy, she constantly has milk washing back into her mouth, swallows a lot & grimaces. And has at least one projectile vom of a feed each day.. that in itself just seems to startle her, she doesn’t cry about it & immediately wants more milk!

Any thoughts? I’m so hesitant to have to take her out to a GP at such times but equally, it’s awful to hear her crying for 10 hours solid! And our elder daughter gets really upset about it.. which is just relentless given we are trapped indoors all goddamn day.. 😭

Could be reflux. Have you tried keeping her upright for 20 minutes after a feed? Can speak to your health visitor? You can phone the GP. Does she swallow a lot of air when feeding, does she guzzle a feed? Which bottles and teats are you using?

Look up CMPA, does it sound familiar?

We just got through this with dc2. I was not prepared for it at all. It awful. I knew it wasn't pain/colic based on everything she was/wasn't doing. Looked up article on purple crying and it hit the nail on the head. Basically, it peaks then gets better. Ours was textbook, she just got happier and happier.

I feel for you, those were very tough times. Just know they will end

Acid reflux can be very painful for them. Call gp as they are doing lots of over the phone consultations or at least HV. Is baby definitely feeding enough?

10 hours is an awful long time for a baby to cty so please do speak to someone!
