Hi, my 13 months old baby boy cannot sit up from lying. Everything with him was normal till 10 months. When he was 10 months and 2 days old he got seizure attack without fever. He has all total got 4 attacks till now. Now we have started giving him sodium valproate on doctor's recommendation... I am really worried..during this last 2 months he went through lots of tests. I am from nepal, I am not getting proper consultation from doctors.. please suggest... I am really worried

I'm sorry I really don't know what to suggest.

Do you know what tests they have done?

It’s hard to comment as I don’t know your babies medical situation but I can tell you that my youngest brother was susceptible to seizures as a baby and they continued until his mid teens, he was incredibly heat sensitive and if his body overheated slightly he would have an attack. My mum said this caused minor delays in his development and he’s now a perfectly healthy 18 year old.

Obviously his case isn’t the same but my DD and DS (twins) didn’t start sitting unaided until 15-16 months old. They have motor delays and speech delays due to prematurity rather than a medical condition as such, but it really can vary a lot depending on the child.

Does your Son seem well within himself? It must be frightening to see what you have and not to have as many answers as you would like by now. I hope you are able to access a doctor for more information (I’m not sure how healthcare operates in Nepal and I’m sorry I can’t be of more use).
