Baby proofing - recommendations for room guards/dividers

Hi all,

My DS is 7 months old and sitting independently. He’s starting to want to move (although I don’t think crawling is imminent) and I really need some suggestions for baby proofing.

Basically, we have a stone floor covered with a large rug and I’m terrified of him falling on it when he starts crawling/cruising.

Does anyone have any suggestions for gates/guards? I was thinking of getting some large crash mat type things and then a bit safety guard but no idea where to start. Our downstairs room is open plan so I need something that will stop him getting into the kitchen whilst enabling him to move around freely and safely. Any recommendations for stair gates also greatly appreciated!

Many thanks!

Id reccomend looking on facebook for stairgates. I got three for £30, i would reccomend sticking to branded ones as ive got one that isnt branded and its deffo not as stable

You can get thick foam mats to cover the floor - we had some Chad valley ones. We had safety Dan baby gates which didn't need to be screwed in (we're crap at DIY).
