Im at my wits end, ive spent my babys first month in and out of hospital, for myself and him. Today we were told to take him to a&e as the health visitor wouldnt see him or our gp. Weve been told we are over feeding him, hes been an unhappy baby since day 1. Originally he lost 16% of his weight and was admitted (long story). He has had to be bottle fed and we were told today hes put on 3lb in 2 weeks, our midwife had advised us to leave an extra ounce in the bottle. We are back from hospital and 3 feeds later hes crying near constantly and im now at the point of thinking the professionals are wrong again. Hes gone from people thinking he has colic, reflux and now this. I just dont know what to do to make my baby happy and its breaking my heart Sad

3lb in two weeks does seem a lot.

Is he really unsettled? Have they mentioned the possibility of CMPA to you? Sometimes babies with CMPA overfeed as they confuse the pain for hunger.

If he lost so much weight at first, has he been properly checked for Tongue Tie too?

Hes been unsettled since the day he was born, slowly getting worse every day. When we were in hospital yesterday they said hes put on alot of weight but we havent fed him more than we were advised by the midwife, she told us once he was finishing a bottle to go up to 5oz per feed (feeding every 3 hours) but to add an extra oz incase he wanted more. He only has 5oz and sometimes can sleep upto 4 hours so we thought everything was ok. No one has seen him other than the drs on paeds yesterday, with everything going on weve been left high and dry from a health visitor/gp/midwife point of view. He has improved overnight with the reduced feeding but this has been a pattern, he improves for 2 days and then goes back to an unhappy baby no matter what we try

Did you manage to read the links in my post and did any of the symptoms sound familiar?
