Is anyone else’s toddler being REALLY hard work at the moment?

Hi all. This is just a vent/moan really!

DD is 12 months and normally very happy and ‘easy’. Smiley, playful, rarely cries ect. But over the past few days (pretty much since the lockdown really) she’s become really, really hard work.

She whines/moans/whinges almost constantly. She wants me to carry her everywhere and screams the second she’s put down. She’s happy and playing for maybe five minutes at a time before the whinging starts again.

She doesn’t have a temperature, nappies fine, still eating and drinking well ect so I don’t think she’s ill. I did suspect teeth but anbesol and Calpol do nothing to improve her mood. Maybe she’s picking up on my stress? I have other things I’m worried about (I’ve got loads of uni work to do and don’t know where to start, and my partner is a key worker so still having to work which worries me to no end), so maybe that’s affecting her?

I don’t know. Whatever it is though, it’s making me feel like an awful mum Sad

Yes! My DS is 2 in a couple of weeks and is extremely clingy right now- I also am working from home so it's a struggle! I've set out some games for us to play during the day and a set chill time (reading books mostly) and I'm so grateful he has a decent afternoon nap!

Hang in there mama!

Same here with 21 month old. It’s bloody hard work, she is rarely happy and constantly wanting to hold hands so she can walk. It’s just their frustration at not being able to do what they want to. I get it but it’s still bloody annoying behaviour.

Same here with 16mo. It’s so hard finding indoor things to keep her entertained! Done some baking and colouring so far along with general playing. Oh and she loves helping taking clothes in and out the washing machine Grin She can walk but isn’t really that confident yet so still favours crawling which limits things a bit! I think the frustration is just them wanting to communicate something but not knowing how to, understandable but hard to deal with! You have my sympathies!

Same 🙋 2 year old has gone v clingy. Starting to want carrying around and wanting the fork loading etc even though these things are all well within his capability! Not sure whether it's me being around all the time plus no nursery (now on mat leave and the Corona has stopped his 2 nursery days) or whether he knows that there is a baby on the way, although other than that he hasn't showed any understanding yet.
Oh and trying to stand on his toys, throwing things etc.
