Anyone else's family forget Mother's Day?

I shouldn't be p*ssed off, we're self isolating. But my mum got the card I ordered on moonpig, and present from amazon, so did DHs. We've had several amazon deliveries (we got the isolating protocol down).. but there was a panic this morning resulting in a hand drawn card 3 hours after breakfast. Please, please, tell me I'm not the only one this happened too?

Yep. I got a card. Otherwise business as usual. I even took DD breakfast in bed! I'm not bothered in the slightest. It's a made up commercial thing. There's no such thing as mother's day.

It’s not nice to feel forgotten, but it has been a strange week - and your kids obviously appreciate you. A hand-drawn card sounds lovely. If mine was old enough to know about Mother’s Day I’d be pleased with that.

I forgot mother's Day for my DM. Well, I remembered but was too disorganised to get anything together (whoops!) and didn't visit for obvious reasons. I got a card from DD (organised by DH) and breakfast in bed. We don't do too much of a big thing for it tbh, but I shall post Mum's belated card tomorrow. At least yours have the excuse of being kids/teens!

I understand OP, it’s just nice to be remembered. I had coffee and toast in bed (made by DH) and then a moonpig card and some handmade “flowers” they babies painted for me which I was very pleased with! Then we got on with our day as normal. Have just been handed a glass of prosecco by DH this evening. All very low-key but didn’t feel forgotten. I think that’s what OP means, it’s the thought that counts.

Amboseli it's not made up, Mothering Sunday is part of the church calendar and the date changes every year in relation to Easter. Do you celebrate Easter or Christmas or do you think they are made up too?

Mother's Day in May in the US and other countries is a made up commercial thing.

Thankssomuch · 22/03/2020 18:56

My eldest didn’t send a card or gift, and my two little ones didn’t make cards. Their father brought some Tesco flowers on their behalf. Not a major Mothering Sunday.

I said not to bother and we'd do a joint mothers and fathers day in June. Did get a frantically scribbled card made this morning by DP and 2yo. Happy with that. Oh and a bacon sarnie in bed!

Forgotten here which is unusual and usually I would be genuinely gutted bUT
Yesterday my elderly and poorly mother who lives alone was found collapsed by me and barely conscious. Turns out she’d had a heart attack. She is now in hospital very poorly, I don’t think she will survive. So my Mother’s Day has been risking the cv to break out fo my social distancing and visit my lovely mum because I don’t know if I’ll see her again.

I got up at 6 with the children, h slept into 11 as per usual 🙄had a go at me when I cried because I don't feel special
I know we have not a lot of spare money but literally all I want is a mug from Poundland with mum on
Apparently I shouldn't expect anything as I am not his mother, however our children are 4 and under so can't do anything themselves
I have not had 5 minutes to myself and I just want to feel appreciated

Nquartz · 22/03/2020 19:05

I didn't get anything but that is unusable. It's been a shit week & understandable but still a bit crap

Sweetener12 · 23/03/2020 07:37

I didn't get anything but I sent my mum a Mother's day slideshow. She is in the USA so we don't see each other often. I'm fine with not getting anything because I didn't feel like this was a special day. The situation is pretty tough and I didn't feel like partying.
