DLA & INCAPACITY BENEFIT .... Do You Get Paid Them as a 'Joint Payment'????

MissesF · 10/09/2007 10:10

I was late returning my renewal forms for my DLA- so as expected they stopped my money.

However... apparently they also have 'temporarily' stopped my Incapacity Benefit...to enable them to set it up as a separate payment again.

their attitude is...i'm still getting IB... but it may take a few days to sort out.

meanwhile i am close to having direct debits refused at my bank- and therefore getting charges of £30 a hit.

i know i ballsed up by not getting my DLA form back on time...

but if i'd realised it would have caused me this problem with my IB i would have been able to plan for NO MONEY...rather than expecting some.

phone your bank and speak to them about the situation, they may be able to arrabnge a temporary overdraft or something.

you can also try and get a crisis loan til lthis is sorted out.

have you returned your DLA forms now (you did used to be mrsF didnt you?)

Nemo2007 · 10/09/2007 10:18

Was there a thing a couple of years ago about IB only being given if DLA was awarded?

LadyVictoriaOfCake · 10/09/2007 10:18

mellowma 08457123456 for a claim pack. the forms are massive. you need to fil lthem in in great details, very negative forms, and get a health professional to sign it as well.

MissesF · 10/09/2007 10:22

yes...i'm mrsf!
(i've worked out who you are now...you mentioned peter on another reply you wrote to me!)

MellowMa-DLA can be awarded on mental health grounds...i only realised i 'may' get it when a few years back i was applying for DLA for my autistic son- and i came across the list of stuff relavent to adults with mental health- and how it affects your life- and how DLA is to 'improve quality of life'...and at that point i did not have an official label as such...just anxiety/depression. However, i was and still am, seeing a psychiatrist twice a year and have a weekly visit at home from a 'mental health worker'- and have been taking antidepressants now for 10 years.

(so you have OCD too?)

nemo...apparently not- as that was my first panic!

I had incapacity benefit 1st - then a year later started getting DLA

its just finished me off this- my OCD has got worse whilst i was filling out the DLA forms (we all know what dla forms are like)- for example i have cut 4" off my hair (one of my OCD problems) so i feel miserable. And whilst filling the forms in my irritable bowel was a nightmare. thankfully that is calmer now!

Try looking at this for DLA MENTAL HEALTH GROUNDS- page 6 has a 2 minute test to help you see if it applies

mellowma I get DLA on grounds of mental health. I had a fab cpn who sorted it all out for me as I had been out of work 6mths and she sorted out IB then did the DLA forms.

i'd be so happy if you got it after reading my thread!
the forms are a pain- but for me to have how i feel in some way validated has made a huge difference.
i cannot work- have managed in the past - but now having 3 boys- cannot deal with my OCD and the boys and work. so getting DLA helps me have a life.

Hows it going mellowma?

Just got my DLA claim pack today, what a nightmare, seems really hard to fill in about any condition that's not as cut and dried as they want it to be. aaaagh. Have also applied for IB, on my doctors advice.
I have non cystic fibrosis bronchiectasis, bit of a mouthful but means my life's crap at the mo.
Any more exp of IB/DLA?
