Someone touched my baby

Someone touched my 10 months old face in a supermarket, they had a material type gloves on , I don’t know if that’s why she thought it was ok ? Or just didn’t think? But I was in utter shock she did it, I didn’t even stick up for my myself or my baby which I feel like such a terrible mother for. It was all so quick she smiled and I smiled back and then touched his face 😞 if I could go back in time I would smack her hand away and tell her not to touch its not safe , there’s bloody cornoavirus around ?! I can’t stop crying tonight as I just feel pathetic that I can’t stand up for my baby.

Relax! Someone touched your baby, they didn't drop a brick on him. Yes there's a virus going round, but I bet you picked up packages and touched your baby, or touched a door handle and touched your baby. The germs aren't different from someone else.

It's bad manners to touch someone else's child, and maybe you should have said something (personally I wouldn't have either), but you have to relax. It's done. Focus on the things you can change.

The virus can't live on fabric, it dehydrates and dies. So don't worry about that.

I'd have been beside myself if this happened to me OP. I had an horrendous experience with a grumpy old practice nurse who took the protective top off the needle she was about to stick into my 6 week old baby and put it down, uncovered, on her desk amongst all of her personal belongings, right next to her car keys (I'll never forget this detail Grin). She picked it up and jabbed it into his leg and I sat there totally mute! I felt like you, like I was a terrible mother for not saying anything to her in time. All I had to do was to ask her to replace the needle with a clean one!

I'm sure your baby will be fine, our little chap was. You realise they are very robust after a while!

Your 10 month old is not likely to suffer a severe reaction to this. At least they were wearing gloves. It could've been far worse. People were touching babies before this y'know. Work on a karate chop in future.

Thank you everyone you’ve made me feel better - yes probably being dramatic, but even under normal circumstances it winds me up. I’m definitely going to have to learn the karate chop!

That’s awful ! Well it’s not just me that struggles then , I never would of thought it would be this hard to stick up for myself! I just stew on it afterwards wishing I had been more tough and said something, it’s a horrid feeling. Thank you x

@DivGirl That’s true thank you so much I was in panic mode you have made me feel better.
