No baby formula

Hi,

DH has gone the shops and there isn't any baby formula (we use SMA first infant milk) DS is 5 months and we haven't weaned yet as he's too little and not ready.

DH says shops only have 6 months+ milk

Could we give this to DS?

I breastfed for 4 months so I haven't got much of a clue about formula, our HV recommended SMA so we went with it.

DH has been to 7 shops this morning, we're from a big city so it's not as though we only have one local shop

I just don't understand how it's already all sold out

🤢 to those putting it in tea, formula tastes rank.

I was thinking that, it's absolutely foul. If it wasn't for the fact they are depriving the people who actually need it, I'd say the greedy fuckers deserve to drink nothing else.

Seriously, who does that!? Who deprives a baby of the only thing they can eat!?

Dont use 2nd stage milk. It is not suitable. Any other brand is. However I have been informed that if you call the number on the box of formula you can ask for some directly from the manufacturers during this time. Alternatively try small corner shops they are likely to have some as everyone seems to have raided the big supermarkets. Also try boots online.

I was told that follow on formula is slightly different in terms of the structure of its protein, so its cheaper to produce but can be slightly harder to digest, and of course by labelling it as follow on the company gets around advertising rules. I was told to stick to forest milk until 12 months. From the sounds of it you're using the pre made bottles. Perhaps you can find powder somewhere and switch to that. I was under the impression that sma wasnt as palatable as aptimal but also got told they're all the same in terms of ingredients so don't know if there is any truth in that. My Dd went into cow & gate at 5m and my ds went onto aptimal at more like 5w. Both are fine and healthy at 5 and 2.5 now.

As nice as forest milk sounds, I meant first milk! 😁
