Freaking out over bugs

DS is nearly 3 and today as it's sunny we went out in the garden and he was freaking out because there were flies near him 🤦🏻‍♀️ He wouldn't go into his okay house as it was full of cobwebs and everything had dead leaves and bugs stuck to it.
Is this a common fear? Is it normal? I'm worried it's Autistic behaviour 😩

I'm not an expert but I don't think "fear of insects" is particularly high on the list of autism sighs/symptoms.

Is it a common fear? I'd say so. Clean his house for him so he can play in it - I wouldn't go in it either if it was looking like that forest in Harry Potter and I'm fairly blasé about spiders. All I can suggest is modelling sensible insect behaviour when he's there. Less squealing and swatting, more "look how cool this one is". Likely to be a phase.

Thank you for replying. I must admit I'm a real flapper when it comes to bees and wasps so I suspect it's something he's watched (I do try and make sure I don't do it when he's around) without me knowing.
That's for your advice x
