Have I been using our next to me all wrong?!

Am I being totally thick? For those of you with side sleepers do you lie the same way as the baby? Like head and feet in the same direction?

My dad was around earlier and says he thinks we are doing it the wrong way around as it's easier to lift them out if their head isn't the opposite end as when you lift them you will automatically be facing each other and wont have to twist to do so....tried it and he is blooming right. Have I been doing this completely wrong?!

Having babies feet near my head upside down actually makes them closer too.

I put DS back in each time so his head would be the side for whichever breast was next for feeding when I lifted him out, cos I couldn't remember in my sleep-deprived middle-of-the-night wakings 😂

Ohh I never thought of that! I always had mine the same way as me, it feels like it would feel wrong the other way.. I liked to lie on my pillow and watch their face as they slept.. he has a point about the lifting though.

I always used it so their feet were up by my head. I presumed I was doing it 'wrong', but it worked better for me when I sat up to feed. If I lay down to feed and slid her across I found she always just ended up sleeping on my mattress rather than the next to me.

No! The point for me was that I could feed and then roll them away into their own safe space. If you have to lift them up then imo you might as well have a crib.

I would worry if their head was down that they could roll under my duvet without me noticing.

I have a side sleeper but to date (6 months in) my baby hasn’t slept in it....the cats have adopted it as a day bed Blush

But I’d not be sitting up in bed to get them out, just pull across. I feed lying down (with my bed sharing side kick)

I find lifting him out a bit difficult as have to trust and never think he looks that comfy. May try it tonight!! Will update tomorrow lol
