5yo soiling

My 5yo son has been constipated. As a result every day for past 3 weeks he has soiled his pants. Usually several times a day.

It was sticky poo that clung round his bum so not spotted at school.

He was prescribed movicol which resulted in 2 very loose accidents at school and the teachers cleaned him up.

I thought that was the laxative kicking in. So stopped giving him it. Hes now back to pooing clay type poo. Today = 6 changes.

Hes in pull ups at home but I cant subject him to that at school. I kept him off on friday but it's not practical to keep him off much longer as hes been like this for 4 weeks so far.

What can I do? The teachers arent there to wipe arses. But I doubt absence would be tolerated long term.

I work and am single parent so nipping along to school to clean him isn't feasible.

Do I wait until Easter, up the laxatives and hope it clears over the 2 weeks? I have no idea...please help!!

I know sone children do get constipated but have they discussed the reason he may be constipated with you?

If it’s sticky poo, hav3 they ruled out an allergy too?

Have you been referred to a Paediatric Dietician? High water foods like Cauliflower, Broccolli, jelly, melon, strawberries might help and cut down on biscuits, crisps, potatoes and sweet potato for a bit.

I have this problem too. Not constipation though but he can't hold it in.

Has he always been in pull ups? Mine is in pants.

My son is a bit older but also suffers constipation and can often have leakages. Try half sachets of movicol or perhaps maybe 1or 2 a week rather than daily. Plenty fluids and fruit and veg where possible
