Baby suddenly hates the bath?

Just that really. Is this a phase?!

DD is 10 months. She has always, always loved baths - I used to run one at 3am when she was screaming with teething pain as it was the only thing that could calm her down Grin

The last two weeks, she screams bloody murder if you put her in. Like full on, shaking, screaming, takes ages to calm her down. I can tolerate it enough to give her a quick wash and then she’s inconsolable. But we take her swimming every weekend and she loves that.

Please tell me this is a short lived phase! Any ideas how I get her over it?

Have you tried adding bubbles? We use child's farm baby bedtime bubble bath.

Same! 10 months on just the same . Following for any good tips.

Bubbles, toys, the lot. Even tried TV on the iPad and that didn’t work Blush

How does she react to the shower?

AddressLabel · 12/03/2020 14:36

My son is like this, since he was about 12 or 13 months old. He's 17 months now and still screams unless I go in with him. He loves swimming as well

LittleTopic · 12/03/2020 14:38

@BecauseReasons we haven’t actually tried the shower yet - we have a quite a powerful overhead one above the bath and I think it might hurt her! She enjoys peeking in on you when you’re in there though Hmm

The exact same thing happened to my DS when he was 7 months after loving his baths from a few days old.
We stuck to it! Gave him a bath every night even if it was a few seconds to wash him and slowly we could distract him with toys and that annoying encouraging voice (you know the one) and then about a week later we put him in the bath expecting a meltdown and he was fine again!
Keep at it!!

OchAyeThaNoo · 12/03/2020 14:49

Do you bath with her? We only ever bathed with ours because it's a fantastic time to have a play and a cuddle and it used to kill my back leaning over the bath.

BecauseReasons · 12/03/2020 16:53

If you've got a shower head attachment, I'd try that. Or bathing with her as pp suggested.

Summersunandoranges · 12/03/2020 16:55

Does she cry though when she first gets in swimming?

vampirethriller · 12/03/2020 16:56

Mine will only have a bath without me if I use a toy watering can to rinse and splash her.

FartnissEverbeans · 12/03/2020 17:46

My son was the same for a while. He’s fine now.

LittleTopic · 13/03/2020 06:04

@BecauseReasons good idea - might try that one.

@Summersunandoranges no, she loves it! Never cries at swimming Hmm

Some good ideas here, thank you Smile missed bath time last night as the madam decided she wanted to go to sleep an hour early but will put these into practice tonight!
