Meal and snack ideas for 11 month old

Hi all,

My little one seems to have started getting bored of many foods he used to enjoy and I'm running out of ideas for tasty, healthy, age appropriate meals and snacks to try.

He's never had a huge appetite (milk nor food) and he's been massively active since 6mo when he first stood so I want to find things he'll love and devour to make sure he doesn't lose weight (he took his first steps yesterday too so he'll be burning even more calories soon!).

I started giving him cows milk to drink a few days ago to add calories which he loves, but food-wise most of it ends up on the floor or chucked away.

What would you suggest? What are/were your 11/12mo's favourite meals and snacks?

Thanks! Smile

Babies under 12 months don’t need snacks. If he is hungry in between meals, offer extra milk feeds instead. - from the NHS website

in terms of meals, try:
-falafel
-]]www.nhs.uk/start4life/weaning/recipes-and-meal-ideas/lentil-pasta-with-broccoli/ lentil pasta]]
-chicken noodle stew
-bean stew
-pikelets- you can serve with a variety of toppings such as pesto or cream cheese
-butternut soup
-salmon fishcakes

I'd just give him what you eat. No special food needed.

My 11 month old loves eggs at the minute, either scrambled or boiled and mashed up with butter or mayonnaise. He has these with toast for lunch often.

Wonderful ideas thank you for the links @sleepismysuperpower1!

@PopcornZoo I do that when I'm eating something at least somewhat nutritious but my diet has had to change pretty drastically recently due to a health problem, so most of what I eat is just white flour based breads/snacks and not much good nutrition unfortunately (he does adore crumpets though!)

Thanks @lottieskeeper I'll make sure to try eggs again, he didn't seem to like them for a while but his taste might have changed now as it often does

My HV advised adding in snacks as my daughter isn’t a big eater either. She was almost 11m when that was suggested. She’s very dependent on milk still, doesn’t seem to be moving towards eating mostly food at all 😬

Mine loves toast, breadsticks, fruit and salad. She doesn’t seem to eat much in the way of ‘real’ food, despite my best efforts.

My 11 month old still loves breastfeeding but he also enjoys eating:

asparagus with butter
Any avocado eg mashed, sliced with skin on
Mango slices
Fish pie
Meatballs in tomato sauce mashed up with cous cous or rice
Roasted salmon with noodles and tender stem broccoli
Pasta with creamy sauce and peas or other veg
Houmous
Falafel and houmous
Slices of tomato and cucumber
Plain Greek yogurt
Mashed banana
Pear slices
Satsumas or slices of orange
Toast fingers with avocado
Porridge with berries
Shreddies with hot milk (not v often as they contain sugar)
