Should I up the formula?

DS is 5 weeks. Had been having 5oz formula every 3-4hrs. Past couple of days, it's 5oz every 2-3hrs. Should I go up to 6oz per feed? It seems too much. He finishes the whole 5oz 99% of the time, v rare he leaves any.

Sorry for short sentences, he's asleep on my arm! Thanks for any advice.

If he's draining bottles, you need to up the amount in them.

But 2-3 hours is still not an unusually short period between feeds for a newborn

Agree with Harrys: if he’s draining 5floz, make 6floz. There should always be some left in the bottle Smile

Babies should never be allowed to drain a bottle. If they do you need to start offering more milk.

Back when I had mine ( yonks ago) we used to half the babies weight and that was how many ounces they had.
10lb baby =5 ounces.
Probably all changed now but might give you an idea.
