Son won't stop eating

Looking for some advice please. My 12 year old boy won't stop eating. He is constantly snaking even after I make a man size dinner, healthy dinner at that may I add. I have tried to limit the amount of snacks I have in the house an encourage fruit but all I hear every 20 mins is can I get food. He has gained so much weight over the last year, mainly because he had a dairy free diet and the free from substitutes were full of sugar. Now he has the all clear to take dairy again but I don't see the weight shifting. He is a tall and road boy but his belly fat is just getting bigger overthe year and he is starting to become self conscious.

It could be its normal for his age but I don't know as he is my first and only child.

He is very active, goes to football training 3 x a week and a match at the weekend.

Has anyone else been in this situation? If so how did you manage it? How did u fill them so they don't snack.

Thanks in advance.
