No dirty nappies

Help! Baby is 12 days old and hasn't had a dirty nappy in nearly 4 days. Eating fine and having plenty of wet nappies. Mixed fed with breast and formula. Getting worried now...?!

Have you been discharged by the midwife? Can you call the ante natal ward at the hospital?

Dinosauraddict · 09/03/2020 05:08

Got a midwife visit scheduled for tomorrow (Tues) which is supposed to be the final discharge one, but thinking of calling/dropping into postnatal this morning.

I was told anything up to two weeks is fine. Once i swapped her to formula she only poops every 2-3 days and they said it was fine, try wiping to stimulate at some coiled boiled water

Due to absolute Sod's law he has just had the most MASSIVE poo explosion GrinAnd then I got wee'd on while cleaning it up all for good measure. I feel a lot better about the world now so thanks everyone.

And thanks @Sleepycat91 that is still really reassuring! We've only introduced formula over the last 5 days as my milk supply was a bit too low and he needed to put on some more weight. I think the diet change is what's done it.

Ooh lovely present for you! My girl got really constipated on the change over, it looked like magic sand and she was really uncomfortable trying to go. We swapped to comfort milk and shes fine on it, despite it being green and the worst ruddy smell ever!

From maybe about a month old my formula fed baby would only have dirty nappies every other day. Longest we went without was 5 days and it’s now on average every second day. I would always mention this to my health visitor when I saw her as friends always had babies who would poop numerous times a day. She assured me this was totally normal for being formula fed.
