Dd aged 14 has been struggling with social anxiety and low self esteem for some time which has manifested in school refusing and pronunced tics. We had a referral to cahms but during the assessment process things deteriorated and her school attendance worsened. At the time I felt I was being blamed as dh is ill and I have other dc who need my attention.
During this time any absense has been unauthorised so I have the threat of fines hanging ocef my head.
Anyway we have now been alllocated a therapist who seems to appreciate that dd has issues. Yet the school are still treating her absense as unauthorised.
I am now pushing for off site education on medical grounds but it is a constant battle.
Any advice appreciated. Thank you.a

Ask CAMHS to write supporting letter to school

Thank you. I have emailed CAMHS but I will mention at the session on Friday.

It is unatuthorised though - no one has given her permission to not attend school. She may be working with a therapist but that’s all. Can you speak to the school about alternative provision or are you planning to de-reg?

(Work in pastoral care and with many school refusers)

I am looking at alternative provision. I still feel though that she is ill and if she had a physical illness than it would be much easier getting the required evidence.
