Jumping centiles

Hi all,

My little boy was born weighing 9 pounds and has always hovered somewhere between the 50th-75th centiles nicely. He is 29 weeks old this week (approx 7months?)

However, since starting weaning, he is now on the 91st centile. Has anyone else experienced this and if so was it a problem?

He’s not the most active of babies and prefers to study and play with toys rather than trying to start moving much. He can roll over and sit but doesn’t show much interest in doing this regularly.

His dad is 6’4 so he’s always hovered around the 95th centile for height. He doesn’t look overweight (but I don’t know if I’d be able to identify that from looking at him!)

He is combined formula and breast fed and has a small amount of porridge each morning and a bit savoury and fruit (approx one pouch of each) per day.

Tha ks

I could have written this almost word for word about my DD with the only real difference is that I wasn’t BF at 7 months. She came back down to 70th-ish percentile once she started walking and she’s still 90th-ish for height. She has regular check ups with her paediatrician as we’re in the US who has always been happy with her. Apparently it’s very common for them to get chubby after they start weaning but before they start walking and besides, 90th percentile for height and weight is perfectly balanced. I wouldn’t worry!
