Hi everyone,

Just thought I'd come on here for some advice as lost as what to do next with my baby.

He is a sufferer of bad reflux and also cmpa which has been an absolute horrendous nightmare since he was born. We have been through 4 different formulas and finally he seemed to settle down on nutramigen and carobel thickner.

Fast forward 4/5 weeks on the nutramigen and although his sickness has stopped which is a blessing, we have now started with extremely frequent and extremely loose stools, I mean to the point where (sorry TMI) the nappy is like a bowl. It is 8.15am and we have already filled 6 nappies like this, he clearly is uncomfortable before having a poo and it's getting ridiculous now, no matter how much cream I use his poor bum is so sore as he's just doing that many, I will cleaning one and he will do another before I've even managed to swap the nappy to a clean one. We are up constantly all night changing it's exhausting. I've not had his weight checked for a few weeks as I haven't been able to get into my local clinic however I'm going to get him in as soon as I can as I'm getting worried that there is absolutely no way he is getting what he needs these past couple of weeks.

I'm going to call my GP tomorrow and take him back down however thought I'd just come for some advice. Do you think this could be yet another allergy to another ingredient in the milk? I don't know where to go from here.

Thanks in advance x

There is a brilliant CMPA Facebook page. I would ask on there.

But yes it sounds like an allergy. I think your current formula still contains milk but it’s broken down

My boy is 8 months old now and we've been through this. We tried four different prescription formulas including Nutragimen. Each one helped briefly, then symptoms would come back. Eventually we were given Neocate which is amino acid based formula with no cow's milk at all in it. Neocate combined with carobel was an absolute game changer for him. I'd go back to your GP and see about trying neocate or another milk free formula. Good luck.

Thanks ladies, so I took him back to the GP who basically refused to do a thing because he is under the dietician and paediatrician, so I now have to battle to get an appointment with them while my poor boy suffers. If he gets any worse I'm taking him to a&e and they'll have no choice but to see him. It's so awful to watch he's in so much pain 😩 x
