Look at it this way cod: if sport is your son's life, with any luck he will be fantastic at it, go on to represent his country, and, if you push him towards football (so lose the cricket whites) he will earn a fortune and be able to pay you back for all your expenditure now! Don't settle for less than a house in the Caribbean.

£18 taekwon-do
£52 swimming
dont forget the new uniform

DumbledoresGirl · 05/09/2007 09:37

Mine aren't into sport, but I pat a fortune in music fees (and bloody swimming lessons - how can children with so many lessons be so crap at swimming, still?)

But there are rewards. I am still glowing from finding out yesterday that ds2 got a distinction in his grade one violin exam. (Just had to mention it one more time!)

DumbledoresGirl · 05/09/2007 09:37

pay obviously

Ds1 - had swimming lessons for 6 years. Can swim but not stylishly (to quote cod) and never goes now that lessons have stopped.

Ds2 - has had lessons for 6 years (still having them). Can swim several lengths but style is appalling. Never improves.

Dd - has had lessons for 2 years (still continuing). can swim about 8 metres. Bloody hell!

Ds3 - yet to start. I am not sure I have the strength to start him, let alone the cash.

Lessons are continuous throughout the year (ie no breaks for school holidays) and cost about £50 for 10 lessons per child.

Mind you, the biggest money spinner is KARATE. When my 2 oldest boys did that for a year, we took out a second mortgage.

nailpolish · 05/09/2007 09:43

cod you have to take them swimming too - lessons arent enough
one to one important

LaCod · 05/09/2007 09:46

wlel we do of course nonce chops
3 boys - of course we go swimmign to excercise them

ShrinkingViolet · 05/09/2007 09:47

I have two lots of swimming (£120 per term)
three lots of ballet (£315 per term)
two lots of music lesson (£196 per term)
two lots of music group (£50 per term)
two lots of trampolining (£46 per term)
They are having to make do with too small dance shoes though as I refuse to replace them until they cannot be forced on AT ALL.
Why did i think three was a good idea?

LaCod · 05/09/2007 09:48

you win SV

Oh how could I forget ballet? Another little money spinner there when you add together uniform (shoes seem to need replacing every week), lesson fees and exam fees, not to mention the cost of hairspray!

LaCod · 05/09/2007 09:49

the hair nad no fringe thing irks me
