Tips for getting a 1 month old to take gripe water

Hi,

Our one month old has been on infacol from the start but has stopped working now. Have started trying gripe water this morning but how the hell do you give it to a crying baby?

I have tried a 5 ml dropper but he spits it out. Could I clean and sterilise an infacol dropper and give it over 10 mini doses? (Infacol is 0.5ml dropper and gripe is 5ml dose.)

Thanks in advance

We used to put it in with the milk. Not sure whether it was as effective but it worked for both my two.

We gave up on the gripe water for the same reason and tried colief which seemed to help

If they will take a dummy, try one of these.

Worked great with mine! They'd take a few sucks as soon as put into mouth before realising meds were coming out-by which time the full dose was taken!

@ScrummyDiva2 that is AMAZING!!!!!

thank you!!

One last question - did you guys give after every bottle and is there an easy way to take it out and about?

For my SIL Dentinox worked the best. She put it into the bottles.

Definitely try the infacol dropper if they already take that, I've definitely seen people do that before. 10 droppers full will be quite a hassle though! Have you tried a medicine spoon? Maybe try giving it when they're not crying (if there is such a time, I had a crier too).

For out and about, I put a small amount in a tupperware tub that sealed tightly. I think that I also maybe took the whole bottle out with me from time to time too. It's so badly designed!

You can only give 6x a day for gripe water, so we couldn't give after every bottle. I think he was on 8 bottles, so we missed 2 out.

sewinginscotland · 22/02/2020 20:16

Or is it 4x a day? I can't remember, please check the bottle!

I used a syringe I had for expressing. It was only 1ml though so had to give 10 but easier than a spoon. Could also try a sippy cup.
