Car seat help!!

So I've just fitted my infant car seat behind the drivers seat. I wanted it to be either behind the passenger or in the middle but our large rear facing car seat will not fit behind the drivers seat. Now I'm panicking what we will do when baby moves out of the infant seat?! My son is only two and 16kg so won't be in a forward facing seat when this time comes. Is the only option to get a bigger car?! We didn't really budget for this was not expecting it!

How come it fits behind one seat and not the other? Surely they're the same?

I had to get a bigger car. I lasted a week with my teeny tiny one before I gave up.

Yes it should fit surely? Can you move the passenger seat forward a bit? Or alternatively get a smaller rear facing seat for baby when the time comes.

Do you mean you have 2 car seats, a large rear facing seat for your older child and an infant carrier for your baby? If you can't fit 2 large rear facing seats in the back (for when your youngest is out of the infant carrier) then you'll need to either turn your older forward facing or get another car. A different brand/style seat might fit though so it's probably worth checking out.

It fits behind the passanger seat as I can move that all the way forward but my husband can't fit in the drivers seat with it all the way forward! Hopefully a different brand will fit behind it... We have the joie stages so will give that a go when the time comes! Thanks for the comments so far.

@amazedmummy looking it up it seems a lot of people have had to get bigger cars! I never imagine that would be the case unless I had 3 or more kids so crazy!

Can't you put one child's seat in the front? I always had dd in the front, next to me, when I still had a small hatchback.

amazedmummy · 21/02/2020 14:59

@MsChatterbox I was determined the whole time I was pregnant that I wouldn't need a new car. I was wrong.

We bought an estate for this reason.

SomeoneElseEntirelyNow · 21/02/2020 15:51

@KellyHall its much safer to have children's car seats in the back, and it wouldnt help anyway, because in order to be safe OP would have to push the passenger seat (with the car seat in it) back as far as it can go to avoid potential airbag injuries, so they'd have the same problem with the driver's seat, the second car seat wouldn't fit in the back.

She needs a different car seat or a different car. Or a smaller husband, but that might be drastic.
