17 year old and internet addiction?

I am currently at the end of my tether with my 17year old. He goes to college 3.5 days a week and is doing well. Aside from that he sits in his room all day either on his phone, watching TV or playing the xbox. Last week he spent 105 hrs just on his xbox! I have rules in place but he has zero respect for my decisions. He looks at me with pure disgust on his face if I ask him to get off the xbox or put his phone down for a bit.
I ask that he brings his phone down at 10pm other wise he'd be on it all night and I've recently put restrictions on his xbox use but it seems he has worked out how to get around them.
He has chores that he does daily but huffs and puffs about doing them. He doesn't have a part time job and it seems he doesn't care about having one and never socialises. He has even started using American terminology for things such as mall, elevator etc.I am at the point where I feel like taking the router with me to work on the days he is home all day so that he has time to be bored and get some motivation for life away from a virtual world. Is that reasonable?
