11 month old fell off the bed

I feel like a terrible mum this morning, my 11 month old DS fell off our bed, luckily not a very high bed but he still landed with a bit of a thump. We were playing probably too close to the end and next thing I know he flings himself off and I didn’t manage to catch him. He instantly cried for about a minute then calmed down, he seems fine now, no bruises yet and no lump on the head. Has this ever happened to anyone else? I feel absolutely terrible. Should I still take him to be checked over?

I'm surprised he's gone 11 months without falling off something!

Nothing at all to worry about if he's happy and alert. It's only if he fell asleep or acted confused after the fall that you might worry.

Yes. All of us. We've all done it. And give it a few more years and another child and you would have done it more than twice over and you'll be replying to a thread just like this Don't worry OP, he'll be fine.

Yup, everyone has done this!!! My DS was 10 months when it happened

This has happened in pretty much some way to everyone.

Don’t worry he cried and then cheered up. You’ll probably never forget it - he already has.

My two year old fell off the bed a couple of weeks ago. Instant lump and bruise on her head and her lip was bleeding, I was an absolute mess running around with ice pack etc ready for taking her to hospital and she was absolutely fine ! Don't worry about it these things can happen

My 5 month old fell off the bench at frankie and Bennys the other day! Luckily she slid super slowly and landed on the changing bag but I couldn't stop shaking afterwards- could've been a lot worse!!

I think this has happened to most parents; if he seems fine in himself, is moving all limbs and no clear injuries then don’t worry.

My 8 month old rolled off the sofa last week and I was in hysterics feeling so guilty, after a minute of crying she was fine and it was like it never even happened it happens to the best of us!
