Hi all

Have a gorgeous 3 day old baba and first time mummy. We are persevering with breastfeeding although struggling wIth the latch. Main worry is he just wont settle after feeding and screams bloody murder. Even when winded and clean and full!! Wondering if I am being dim and forgetting something? Haven't got to bed before .6am yet and even then that is handing him over as opposed to him going down. He won't sleep in bassinet at night?! Anyone have advice??

Totally normal. Google the 4th trimester. He just wants to feed and held by you 24/7. Look into safe cosleeping.

Fist of all, congratulations mummy 🙏🏻🙏🏻.
Bare in mind, these are just MY experiences and advice, so you do what suits YOU👌🏻.

My son wouldn't latch properly, despite bringing in a lactation specialist AND expressing. We eventually just bottle fed because I was shattered, and I found he was enjoying the formula and was fuller longer, and then sleeping longer. He did have a bit of reflux though and was crying a LOT so maybe keep your little one upright for a bit longer after feeds just incase.

Also, try swaddling. They LOVE being snuggled up tight and helps them feel more secure 👍. I didn't actually invest in one of those cocoons/sleep pod things myself. But if I was having another one, I'd definitely go get one. They're meant to be great for helping the baby sleep longer. Again I'm no expert👌🏻👌🏻

My DD was bottle fed but cried constantly for first 6 weeks turned out she was colicky so started using infacol drops made a great difference but any worries share with your midwife or health visitor or family

Keep him close. How he is he.once fed and.still.in arms? That's where I'd keep him.if he's happy. Do you have a sling?

Congratulations! It's so hard but keep him close and feed, feed, feed - it will help your milk supply establish. As others have said - take a google at the fourth trimester.
Honestly, it's so hard but treasure these days, my little boy is 9.5 months old and I wish I'd just cuddled up in bed with him more when he was so tiny. Get drinks and snacks by you.
To get essential stuff done, I recommend a stretchy sling xxx

Thank you all so much for reassuring responses! Midwife visit today went really well and they are happy with how he is feeding and latch is already a bit better!! Onwards and upwards!
