If I want to use my Next to Me cot for my second baby does anyone know if I will need to buy a new mattress (for the firmness)?

I would get a new one myself as generally it is recommended you get a new one for each child, I’m sure plenty of people don’t and have been fine but I’d rather the new one just for hygiene and firmness! I think the lullaby trust recommends it too but I’m not sure if it’s only outside the family second ha d, I’m sure someone more familiar with the recommendations will come along and advise you! In saying that if you can put it in the washing machine it’s probably fine as the firmness probably wasn’t affected much since they don’t fit in it very long, be more the hygiene and safety end id worry about!

For me personally it would depend on the age of the mattress and use. Use your judgement.

I would, just to put my mind to rest when the sleep deprivation hits and I start the 3am worries. You can get any new mattress foam and put in the existing cover, or there are websites that do them.

I used it again 18 months after my first baby. It’s supposed to be ok to reuse the same mattress if it’s in the same household but for peace of mind I got a new one. About £15 on Amazon I think.
